About The Event

Mindful Movement: Connect with Nature returns for the winter school holidays!

Domna (Echo Heart Yoga) & Michelle (Star Yoga For Kids) have been out exploring the serene E.G. Waterhouse National Camellia Gardens & surrounding area & have come up with an awesome plan to connect children with nature.

🌿 Starting at the top of the gardens, we will mindfully walk down the winding path, exploring the different sights, sounds & smells.

🌿 We will wander all the way down to the riverbank where we will practice yoga & mindful movement.

🌿 Feeling grounded after our movement, we will explore surrounding bushland & mangroves.

🌿 Ending our walk by a waterfall, we will practice meditation & mindful eating.

🌿 After a busy 2 hours of mindful exploring, we will meet parents by the bottom carpark of the gardens.

This is a new way for your children to experience one of The Shire's favourite picnic spots!

By slowing down & inviting children to admire the beauty of nature, they will leave feeling deeply connected & have a greater appreciation of the world around them.

💚 This 2 hour session is open to all primary school yogis.

What is Mindful Movement? Mindful Movement is the term given to any movement activity which is done with full attention, focus, presence or intention. Mindful Movement not only develops physical skills, but it also increases emotional wellbeing. By becoming more connected with your movement, you increase self-awareness and develop qualities such as curiosity, kindness and compassion. During this Mindful Movement session, children will be lead through mindful yoga & tai chi practices, go for a mindful bushwalk & practice mindful eating.

Why in nature? Nature can teach us so many important life lessons: to appreciate the sunshine after the storm; to look for rainbows when it starts to rain; that all changes in life can be beautiful. And many, many more! Being outside in nature is very calming and grounding, but it also boosts your energy levels. Breathing in fresh air is great for your lungs, and getting some sun can recalibrate your sleep patterns. Plus, we have this stunning National Park right on our doorstep. So let’s explore it!

What else do I need to know? Arrive at 12:45 for a 10am start. Drop off is just inside the TOP CARPARK and pick will be beside the BOTTOM CARPARK. The session will be held outdoors, so please pack sunscreen, hat, jacket, water bottles, bug spray & make sure your child is wearing enclosed shoes. If it is raining on the day, the session will either be postponed or cancelled (full refund given if session is cancelled). For everyone’s safety, group sizes are limited, so if you’re interested, book in quick! A light Morning Tea of fresh fruit will be provided – please let us know of any allergies.
